Background:
Health Action Promotion Association (HAPA) is a Tanzanian NGO established in
2000 and formally registered in May 2001[Society No SO 10892]. HAPA seeks to
provide support to community initiated efforts that tackle the development
of health, education and good governance.
HAPA'S Analysis:
HAPA aims to ensure that the principle of people centred development is enhanced
and put in practise. HAPA understands development to be a process through
which people individually or collectively realise their potentials. The primary
aim of HAPA is to facilitate community groups/ individuals to become aware
that their well being is a core responsibility of themselves.
HAPA is a value-based, non-profit making, non-partisan
organisation. The nature of HAPA activities, and the ways in which these
are carried out is determined by the following principles: -
Responsiveness to
the needs of individuals, community groups and the wider community.
Commitment to sustainable
and participatory approaches.
Making a difference
by drawing on the energy and enthusiasm of all involved in HAPA.
Active pursuit of
innovation accrued and reinforced by research,individual/
....organisational
learning and quality in all activities.
